Deep Dive Into the Future

For those of you curious about what exactly I’m planning, here is a quick look at what I’m hoping to achieve in 2025:

Resisting Empire

Resisting Empire will continue to be my flagship podcast. I am planning to keep the same format (one season completely dedicated to a specific conflict), but I will be able to publish episodes consistently, unlike the random schedule I currently publish episodes because I also work a full time job. I will also post consistently on TikTok, Youtube, and Medium to expand my reach and find other people who are interested in this kind of history.

During the first year of launching my podcast, I was able to interview several experts, which I greatly enjoyed and I believe added additional value to my listener’s experience. However, because of limited availability on my side, I haven’t been able to interview many experts since then. By dedicating myself full time to the podcast, it will be easier to schedule future interviews with leading experts.

Finally, I will expand into merch and educational products that my listeners can purchase. Some of these items will include zines that can be easily shared, infographics, stickers, etc. I will also take my records and offer them as a special download/physical material such as a CD or booklet that my listeners can purchase. While the digital age has been a great way to connect people all over the world, we are learning that the best way to ensure that information isn’t lost forever is to create physical copies. I want my listeners to have the ease and accessibility of listening to my digital products online while also having physical backups – just in case.

Resisting Empire Bookclub

Last year, I attempted to launch a digital bookclub, but had to drop it because of life things (like buying a house) and not having the time to properly dedicate myself to running a bookclub. By working full time on the podcast, I can resurrect my bookclub where people can join and resist empire by reading books that are written by people empire wants to silence.

Women Resisting Empire Podcast

I am ecstatic that I’ll be able to highlight the role women have played in resisting empire with this new podcast that I am launching in 2025. This podcast will not follow a specific conflict per season. Instead it’s going to be a mixture of women from different conflicts all over the world and across time and will focus on their contributions to resisting empire. I’m still working on the specific structure of this podcast, but I already have a list of at least 50 women I want to discuss next year, so I’m not worried about running out of material.

To scare off any TERFs: this podcast will include queer women and that means trans women and anyone who identifies as femme (no matter their other gender identifiers).

Queers Resisting Empire Podcast

Being a queer person myself, this new podcast is a very special project for me. Research into women’s contributions to decolonization has picked up over the last few decades, but queer contributions are still not given the spotlight they deserve. This podcast’s goal is to fix that. Again, this podcast will not follow a specific conflict per season. Instead it’s going to be a mixture of queer people from different conflicts all over the world and across time and will focus on their contributions to resisting empire.

Resisting Your Local Empire Newsletter and Podcast

This might be my most ambitious goal for 2025. If you’ve listened to my previous episodes, you’ll know I always start with a section called Making History, where I highlight activist opportunities. Well, I will to take that section and turn it into a newsletter called: Resisting Your Local Empire. This newsletter will highlight opportunities every day people can take to fight fascism/resist empire around the United States. Maybe someday I can expand it to include the entire world, but I’d need a big staff to do that.

This newsletter is needed because I know a lot of people are terrified and don’t know what to do. I don’t have all the answers, but I can at least share requests from around the country, especially requests being made by those who are most vulnerable to the incoming administration. Maybe together, we can perform enough small acts that can change the course of the future.

Later in the year, I am planning to launch a new podcast also called Resisting Your Local Empire which will highlight specific organizations that are doing the work and highlighting their most important requests.
